You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! – Isaiah 26:3 NLT
How wonderful does it sound to be in perfect peace? When life gets hard and worries get loud, one of the purest desires of our hearts is for peace. Peace to rest and not have to manage the stressors and pressures all around us. So how do we get this peace that we crave so much? Is it even possible?
When everything gets too loud, we direct our thoughts that are locked in on what is surrounding us and set them on Jesus instead. We reflect on who He is, what He does, how He loves, and our future with Him. By keeping our thoughts focused on God, our trust in Him grows and the clarity and peace that we have been so longing for can be revealed to us. But when our minds are a jumbled mess, scrambling from one worry to the next fear, to the future anxieties, we lose sight of the One who has already seen every moment of our lives and has promised to walk with us through those moments when they come.
So today, our first step is this: when our minds drift to worry, fear, and stress, we redirect our wandering minds back to Jesus. We simplify our thinking, reflect and remember His promises and amazing attributes. We meditate on His healing power and His miracles. And let the awe and wonder sink in with the fact that He has done all this and yet He is walking right alongside us this very moment. Trust that He will guide you in your troubles, believe that He has a plan for your tomorrow, and know that He will never leave you even in the darkest of times.
We may not know the future or even the very next step to take, but Jesus does and He is with us right now. There is a Peace that only He can offer, and it can be ours when we allow Him to be our Focus.
