If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. -Jeremiah 29:13 NLT
Have you ever noticed that what we seek, we tend to find? If we are looking for the negative in any situation, we find it. If we are looking for the silver lining, we can find that too.
So then, let me ask you this: what are we looking for? Are we looking for a miracle in our lives or are we looking for the next thing to go wrong? Are we staring straight at a constant struggle that has set up camp and won’t leave? Or are we looking wholeheartedly for Jesus? He is the only One who can heal, mend, restore, and truly aide us in any way, so why look for anything else. Fixating on the issues only tends to make them larger and louder, so why don’t we fix the focus of our eyes on the Lord who is bigger than any problem, struggle, or pain we will ever face.
God is not hiding from us, far away, or distant. We don’t have to go to great lengths to reach Him or be perfect people in order for Him to listen to us. I understand that sometimes it may feel like we are all alone or maybe even that He has abandoned us. That possibly He is off somewhere tending to others and has simply forgotten us. But none of that is true. If we could just take our eyes off of our own circumstances and look for Him, we will realize we don’t have to look far and that He was here with us all along. We don’t have to go on a long quest or even enlist the help of others to reach Him. We simply need to lift our eyes from ourselves and our problems and open them to Jesus. Once we do that, truly and wholeheartedly, we will find Him. We will feel His comforting presence, we will find rest that He has been offering us all along, and we will begin to grow a deeper and stronger faith. God is there waiting for us to come to Him but He won’t force us to seek Him, He wants us to come to Him with all of ourselves in sincere longing for Him.
So today, let’s push past the distractions and fix our focus on Jesus. This is the only way we will truly see clearly and finally find what our hearts have been looking for.
