The Bible is filled with stories and instructions for us to wait. But do you ever feel like you are failing at waiting? Like most of us, I want to wait for God to reveal His plan for me, my next steps, or what path He wants to lead me on, yet I am failing at this whole waiting thing. Afterall, it’s hard to wait. It’s difficult for us people who live in this go-go-go society to pause and wait for instructions. We want to jump up and take action; to hustle and seize the day! We want to take matters into our own hands and get things done. But what if God is telling us to wait? He is in no hurry, and He has no clock ticking away at Him. The pressures we feel to do more, be more, jump into action, perform at our highest, and keep up with the crowds are not from Him.
Despite how much I want to take matters into my own hands, I know that if I do and hurry ahead of His plan, I will toil in vain. I will wear myself out even more so than if I would have just waited and done things God’s way. If you are feeling like I often do that you are failing at waiting, take heart because you are not alone. Use this as an opportunity to deepen your faith, cling to Him more, and believe that He sees you pacing your living room trying to wait for Him. Afterall, He is working in ways we will never see so that only the best plans can be established for us.
So, remember, waiting is hard but we can do hard things. We CAN wait for Him. We CAN trust Him. We CAN believe that He has a plan and it will all work out the way that it should, and will be accomplished in His timeframe. We can do this friends, because as they say the best things in life are worth waiting for, and God is certainly the best thing in life.
