Believe what He says. Believe the words in the Bible are for you. Believe that you are loved and He is with you.

It’s one thing to believe in God and that He exists. But it’s a completely different thing to believe that the words in the Bible, His sacrifice on the cross, and the promises we can read are for us too. I have struggled in the past with the thoughts that the words and promises of the Bible were just written for someone else and not me. That He was watching over other people and leading them but not me. That He loved others and died for them but it wasn’t meant for me too.

So my message of encouragement today is to believe that what the Bible says is for you too. This isn’t some club or group that you are not included in. Every single word in the Bible is meant for us just like it was meant for the people that the words were originally spoken too.

So if you have struggled in this area too, let’s try a new approach. Just for one day, today, make it your goal to read the words and believe deep down in your heart and mind that they were spoken for you just as they were spoken for anyone else. In fact, close your eyes and picture God speaking the words of the Bible directly to you.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you whoever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 ESV

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 NLT

These words are for you and for me. I know how hard it is to believe all of the words in the Bible are for us personally, so just do it for one day. Take one day at a time and focus on that. Today work on memorizing a few of your favorite verses and to hold them close to your heart. When you recite them in your mind, imagine God is speaking them directly to you. Believe His promises include you, believe His words were spoken for you, and believe His sacrifice was for you too.

Just for one day, don’t doubt. Just live in the glorious peace that He has for you. Don’t question or try to reason it away. Don’t come up with excuses. Just believe that those beautiful, precious, life-giving words were for you.

And after today, maybe try it again tomorrow.
