Shifting the focus of our days to the only One who truly deserves to have and hold our attention, can be a life-changing adjustment for many of us. If worry wants to wind itself around our hearts, we can focus on God’s provision. If stress wants to creep into our minds, we can focus on God’s help. If fear wants to worm its way into our lives, we can focus on God’s protection. We can combat anything we are going through with reflection on who He is. We have the power to memorize His Word and we have access to Him at any time of day or night. We will never get a busy signal when we call to Him, we will never get turned away from bringing our cares to Him, and we will never have to walk alone even for a single moment. When the lies invade our lives, we can turn to God to reveal the truth to us.
So, today and every day, we can make Jesus the focus of our lives. Even if everything else seems to be working against us, we can know the One who is always for us. Rely on Him as your Rock, lean on Him as your Fortress, hide behind Him as your Shield, trust in Him as your Partner, and most importantly confide in Him as your Best Friend. We can “be sure of this” He is “with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
Dear Father,
Today we come to You with praise and thanksgiving for the ability to worship You and meditate on Your presence in our lives. When times get hard and the world gets loud, please remind us to come back to You and focus on who You are in all of the storms raging around us. We may never know all the details and reasons why things are the way they are, but we can know You and that’s all that truly matters. Thank you for being our Friend and caring about every detail of our lives. Thank you for being the One we can turn to at a moments notice and release the burdens to. Thank you for being our Helper and never leaving our sides. Lord, help us to continually shift our focus to always come right back to You, and help us to look straight ahead to the One leading us.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
