God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. -1 Corinthians 1:9 NLT
What do you think of when you hear the word partner? Maybe you think of a partner in marriage, a partner in a school project, or maybe even a training partner for a race. Personally, when I hear the word partner my mind automatically goes to business, like a business partner in a company. But no matter what form of partnership you think of first, all partnerships involve similar characteristics. Partners share equal roles, they each have responsibilities and duties, they have equal involvement, they are open with each other, and most importantly they can trust each other with the big issues.
When we join in partnership with Jesus, we can be assured that we have the absolute best person at our side who is faithful to do what He says. He will never leave us in a lurch, He will never walk away, and He certainly will never give up. Regardless of where your mind goes with the word partner, you can be assured that Jesus will be everything you need Him to be in your personal partnership. Just like a partner in business, marriage, or training, the best partnerships are the ones where the members are in close communication and almost in sync in certain ways. A partnership that never communicates, or doesn’t tackle every obstacle together is one that is sure to struggle when rough times comes. The strongest partnerships are the ones that communicate often, ones that recognize and appreciate what the other is doing, and where trust is the strongest.
When God invites us into partnership with His Son, we can be assured that He will be faithful to us, we just need to accept the invitation with open arms and lean into that offer with all we have. There is no other that could be better suited for us to partner with through life. No friend, spouse, or colleague could ever match what Jesus can do in relationship with us. Knowing deep inside that He will never let us down, even when we can’t see the full picture, we can trust our Partner has our backs and our best interest at heart. So happily, take that invitation with Jesus, and always remember to shift the focus to the One who is faithful.
