Praise God…that He alone is our refuge

“This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” -Psalms 91:2 NLT

  What comes to mind when you think of the word refuge? Maybe security, protection, or peace. The Bible tells us God Himself is our refuge. Which means He is all of these things and more. We don’t have to be running from an actual battle to seek the shelter of a refuge. We can be going about our day-to-day lives when everything suddenly becomes too much for us. We may simply be overcome with a sense of overwhelm, and need to seek refuge in Him. Jesus is there when the world becomes too loud, too stressful, or too fast. His refuge is always there to escape to and seek comfort in. His light is always on and door always open to us. We can trust that the refuge of His open arms will always be there to greet us when we need it. And that is a fact worthy of praise.

  God, today we praise You that You are a refuge for us. We praise You for the protection and care You provide. We praise You for being the strong shelter that we seek when we need it the most. Through the safety of Jesus’s name, we praise You.
